HAND PAIN? SORE ELBOW?
Tennis elbow, repetitive strain injury and tenosynovitis are typical modern strain injuries of the upper extremities that affect workers in many different professions. Nerves that become trapped or certain special diseases quickly begin to disrupt everyday activities and have a significant knock-on effect on ability to work.
Visibly insignificant injuries can lead to significant disruptions to function of the hand if they are not treated. Intervention is sometimes necessary in order to restore patients’ grip following old injuries.
REST OR SURGERY?
A large proportion of problems can be treated, i.e. with rest and rehabilitation, but surgery is sometimes necessary. MRI scans make it possible to perform an examination without using x-ray. We can perform keyhole surgery that only leaves small wounds on the body.
The patient’s profession, hobbies and other activities have an impact on which functional requirements are placed on the hands. The doctor must clearly explain to the patient the probable consequences and convalescent periods associated with various treatment methods so that they can make an informed choice.
